Solved usb keyboard does not work in dual boot view

Hello - XP Pro installed first. Windows 7 pro installed on second hard drive. On restart, dual boot window appears with Windows 7 preselected. USB keyboard worked once or twice, but now does not work in dual boot window, so I cannot select XP, and Windows 7 boots every time. PS2 keyboard works. I can use cursor keys to select XP, so I am working with two keyboards. I found one article from someone who was having this problem with Windows 7 and Windows 8 dual boot, ut that fix did not work for me. Thank you for your help.

Does keyboard work in BIOS, because the best way to Dual Boot with separate HD's is booting via BIOS?

Set Win7 HD to boot first in BIOS setup (after DVD drive), then when you want to boot XP tap the Asus F8 BIOS Boot Menu key at bootup to select the XP HD from list.

To do this both HD's need to be marked System in Disk Mgmt but it's likely only XP currently is if it was installed first - check now and post back a screenshot if you want using SNipping Tool in Start Menu.

To write the System boot files to Win7, mark it Active, power down to unplug XP HD, set Win7 HD to boot first in BIOS setup, reboot into Win7 DVD Repair console or System Repair Disk to run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times until Win7 starts on its own.

Then plug back in XP HD, boot it when needed using F8 key at boot.

Check in BIOS for USB legacy is enable, & not disabled.

The problem was solved when I accidentally inserted toe laser dongle into another USB port, and found that the keyboard works from that port.
