Various MMC Errors, Unable To Resolve, Please Help!

I went to get into Event Viewer yesterday and was greeted with the error below. I've done lots of research on how it might be resolved but have had no luck. I just checked every item in the Administrative Tools folder and three other components are giving me errors. Below is a list of information relating to the problem and what I've tried to resolve the Event Viewer issue thus far. Am I missing something obvious?

Steps Taken To Resolve Event Viewer Error

• Tried "sfc /scannow" with no problems/errors.
• Re-added the entire Event Viewer key to the Registry. Created a reg file from text in third to last response on that page (link).
• Tried replacing PATH variable (link).
• Tried deleting "machine.config" for .NET 2 and .NET 4 (link)
• Ran Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool. Only said .NET 4 might be an issue and took steps to resolve it. Since I am not installing a new .NET 4.0, this tool isn't particularly useful. (link)
• Tried launching "eventvwr.msc" from Run
• Restored Default System Fonts (link)
• Edited HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMMCSnapInsFX{b05566ad-fe9c-4363-be05-7a4cbb7cb510}\RuntimeVersion, changing value from "v2.0.40607" to "v2.0.50727" which is my current version.
• Ridiculous level of Anti-Virus, Malware, and Rootkit scanning. My system is clean. Also worth noting I haven't ever tested positive for a virus on this Windows install (now five years old).

NOTE: I suspect this might all be related to a .NET 2.0 issue as some .NET programs have been crashing when I try to start them. However, I cannot confirm this is the cause. I found this article and plan to go through the steps tomorrow when I return.

I hate to go through the trouble of imaging my drive and repairing just for a couple of components that do not work. Sooo frustrating. Thank you very much for the quick reply Andrew.

I was able to confirm that there is in fact a .NET Framework problem. I have two applications that crash as soon as I start them up. I came across this article which showed me how to create a config file, specific to each program, that forces it to use a later version of .NET, which is backwards compatible with whatever version it was programmed to utilize. These programs now launch.

Unfortunately .NET 2.0 and 3.X are built into Windows 7. I cannot reinstall these. Specific tools for removing .NET installations all share the same caveat, they will not touch the Frameworks built into Windows, only those that can normally be (un)installed through the normal Control Panel section.

So I am left unable to do anything concerning the problematic .NET frameworks. So my two questions:

1) Does anybody know how I might go about repairing a .NET 2.0 and/or 3.X install? I've tried the official installers, hoping they might offer a repair option, but they state this software is already installed and then exit. Also tried Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool but it only targets the 4.5.1 installation.

2) Would a Windows Repair Install reinstall the 2.0/3.X .NET Frameworks since they are built into Windows? Or would a clean install be required?

I think I can answer those 2 questions.

1.) On my pc, I have the option to uninstall net framework. I would try uninstalling all versions, reboot and then reinstall.

2.) No it would not, just windows... :/

In that case a clean install might be needed....

I've decided to give the Repair Install a whirl, though I am confused on which set of instructions I am supposed to use on the page you linked. I installed Windows 7 HP 32-bit using a Retail disc that did not contain SP1. Though, via Windows Update, I now have Windows 7 with SP1 installed. Which option should I be choosing?

4. Repair Installed Windows 7 SP1 using Windows 7 with SP1 ISO
5. Repair Installed Windows 7 SP1 using Windows 7 with SP1 DVD/USB
6. Repair Installed Windows 7 without SP1 using Windows 7 without SP1 DVD/USB
