video show grains

Hi.!

I am trying to play a DVD video file on my windows 7 windows media player. Since it is a DVD format, the movie is crystal clear (hv tested it on my laptop [vista]). When i play it in windows 7, the movie shows a lot of grains and is not at all clear.! I've even tried a couple of codecs, tried k-lite mega pack, Media player classic...btu in vain. Kindly help me out plz.

PowerDVD plays flawlessly. You could set it to use hardware acceleration for video, too.

To fix the other players, uninstall all the codec packs and/or single codecs that you previously installed, and then only install ffdshow after.

Hi.! Thanks for replying....

I have tried powerdvd as well....though the video did improve a little bit but it did start to lag also.!

is'nt ffdshow included in the k-lite mega pack? if it is...then i've tried that also...

You're welcome.

Unfortunately, if PowerDVD lags while playing a DVD, you either have a really slow CPU, really slow GPU or really slow both. If you enable acceleration, that will definitely help.

You could try copying a DVD to your hard drive using DVD Decrypter or similar and then playing from there. This is to see if there are any problems with your DVD drive speed or settings, which I doubt.

I still recommend the same as my last post. Uninstall all codecs and codec packs such as K-Lite that you have previously installed. Then install only ffdshow.

Hi, apart from the other good advice that you got, you might also think about checking to see, if the drivers for your card are up to date.
