Viewing .pdf files in adobe reader

I view an e-book in adobe reader, it has 456 pages in it and lots of images and graphics.
When I scroll, resize the adobe reader window it "lags" and becomes slow.
Also when I scroll, there is some noise coming out of my laptop and when I stop scrolling it stops too.

what could be the problem?

The "problem" is Adobe Reader !

When installing it, if you check the "extensions" box then a preview handler will be installed for PDF files so that you can also preview them in the Windows Explorer preview pane;

Couple more alternative PDF readers,

Foxit Software - Foxit Reader for Windows (also integrates into Firefox, and IE, which the next one, which is actually my favourite because it's so light weight doesn't)
Free PDF Reader - Sumatra PDF by Krzysztof Kowalczyk

Your specs are fine, you have a 2.3Ghz i5 in there, and Adobe Reader is frankly, a hunk of junk.

I suppose the 2GB of RAM could be letting you down, but if it is, that's again more likely to be Adobe's fault. Sumatra (which I linked to above) has a ridiculously small footprint, it uses by itself next to no memory.

i think it's an i3, but it still shouldn't lag badly with a dual core processor.

Why would 2GB of ram be the problem?

2GB of Ram is a relatively small amount. Although sufficient to perform most tasks, if the PDF in question is very large, then it is possible it is maxing out your memory.

Hence my comments about Sumatra having a low footprint, therefore using less memory that could be in use by the actual PDF.

Without seeing the PDF in question, or a screenshot of Task Manager when the PDF is open, I couldn't possibly comment further though.
