Anyone have any news on how this is supposed to work for gaming? Is it going to be based more on the Virtual PC tech they had which didn't support 3D acceleration or more on the Hyper-V stuff?

Yeah, I read that and while it implies it's built off of Virtual PC (which does not allow 3D acceleration), they also mention it has parts of Hyper-V in it as well. And rather than side track that thread with discussion on just one part of the new feature, I thought I'd take it to the gaming area where it is better suited.

From what it looks like it most likely will still be lacking 3D, so going to have to stick with VMWare, which supports Direct3D just fine in Windows 7.

Hopefully they get 3D in though, that would be nice, and most competing products have it now, or are in the process of adding it in one form or another.

This solution is absolutly not made for gaming. And has no interest in it.
Even with and 3D hardware acceleration the loss of perf will be significant... and how many games really don't work under Vista/Seven at this time ?

Very few. Almost everything works great right in the OS.

As a note though, performance I have seen in the new VMWare workstation has been very good, even if its not "made" for gaming. :)
