VMWare Networking Question

I have Windows Server 2012 R2 connected to a few clients within a private network, however I would like all machines to be able to access the internet (which they are currently unable to do as they are in the private network), but I don't want to attach another NIC to each machine. Is there any way I can do this or would I just have to attach another NIC to each machine?

This would be where either NAT (Network Address Translation) or Bridge networking comes into play. Essentially either way you are tying your already host NIC to the virtual network with the VMs connected.

Unless you have an idea of how routing works I would consider taking the NAT option ;)

Hi there

That method works fine - and another advantage is that the VM user doesn't even need an account on the HOST server. The user would logon to his VM and simply start up IE (or whatever browser he needs) and connect. The client can still connect to any SHARED folders on the server if these are required.

NAT is better in this case as BRIDGED uses up one physical IP address per VM connection - if you have a limited number of IP addresses you want to assign then use NAT rather than Bridged.
