Ok then. That should safely eliminate your router as the culprit. To eliminate the cable I'd just run the same test again with your wireless computer, using the ethernet to the modem in the same manner and bypassing wireless. I have a feeling that it's going to work fine but ya never know

I'd be curious what your machine does with an alternate install / operating system . That will tell us if it's software or hardware on your machine. I think a PE disc would probably be the easiest thing to try there, I'm sure we can help walk you through it if you need help.

Just an odd point...I'm just trying to figure how you can get so different ping times if your upload and download times are the same as per your post 13? A ping packet is a data packet the same as ordinary file packets...its just data...so if you have vastly different ping tests I don't see why you have the same up /download speeds????

Sorry, can you clarify that? Do you mean that a seperate install didn't work?

If so, I think we have to safely assume it might be the ethernet connection. Do you by chance have a USB wireless adapter you can test on the desktop?

wat i did is connect the cable from the router to the laptop, so the laptop wasnt wireless anymore.
and i still got 20ms on the speedtest on the laptop

Try going to your PC motherboard manufacturers website and download the latest win 7 64 bit ethernet drivers.

the driver was already installed.. so i uninstalled it, and installed it again,
and still no difference with the ping
