when i download a file, Windows ask me if i want to save or open, if i choose open then i don't have to specify a location. later, i would be asked again to confirm open the downloaded file. if the answer is no, that would be the end. but where is the file now? how to locate it to delete it?

Unless you specify a different location, files are downloaded to:

It's in Temp folder. You can delete it by using CCleaner and in System select Temporary Files.

downloaded zip file is playing peekaboo

I have a new Intel i5 Toshiba x64. Switching over from an 8-yr old Windows XP. I successfully downloaded a zip containing Office Pro 2010. I only know this because when I tried to download the same Office Pro zip file a second time, the Save window showed that it was already in my C drive as a locked Office Pro 2010, a compressed zip file right below the Windows file. And did I want to copy it again. Well da...

And here's the problem. When I look at what's in my C: drive the Office Pro 2010 compressed zip file has disappeared. What's that all about. All I want to do is double click the .zip to get the compressed wizzard app to unzip it so I can use the Product key on it. I have looked in all the libraries and used search. Tried *.zip* and nothing. There is nothing in Temp or Downloads. So I am out of ideas. I know it's in my hard drive, and I suppose all I have to do is hit Alt F1 or something like that to make it appear. 64-bit Windows is hot, but my god what a tough learning curve.

I will mention that I have used flash drive on theToshiba a few times.

Pls advise.

Start the download process; when it asks if you want to save it again, and assuming you don't, look carefully at its name including punctuation. Then type it into the start>search area and click search everywhere. In the search window change the "Location" field to your c: drive and check the box that says "include non-indexed...".
