Solved Where should I put my Pagefile.sys and how do I move it?

Hi, I have a 128GB SSD as primary drive (OS & programs) and have read about some people putting the pagefile.sys (swap) on a separate hard drive to increase performance. Could someone guide me as to whether or not I should move my page file and how to do it? I have 32GB DDR3-RAM, which I mention because apparently this has something to do with it...

Hopefully, Ive posted in an appropriate forum...

I don't normally suggest doing anything with the pagefile, but given the amount of system memory you have, you could always confine it to a static 2 GB file, and leave it on C.

Some may suggest disabling it, but that would be a horrible suggestion. To keep your stability, you'll definitely want to leave it enabled, but I would be surprised if you needed anything above 2 GB.

I have a separate 100GB 7200PM SATA drive lying around. Would installing this to only be used as page file make my system any better? Or would that extra 100GB drive best be used for storing things like downloads, documents, music etc?

I fully agree with Deacon. Leave the pagefile on the SSD and reduce the size to 2GB. That's how I handle it on 6 systems with SSDs and never had a problem. The only capability you lose is a full memory dump in case of a BSOD - but I never had a BSOD (knock on wood).

PS: Use your extra drive for data and Images. Image, image, image !!!

By "images" do you mean pics or system image (backup)?
I think its safer to keep any system image on an external drive (detachable from PC) so I'm guessing you meant images as in pictures... please confirm?

Also does anyone know if my 100GB 7200 RPM would be faster if installed directly in the PC as SATA (I have many drive bays and connectors available) as opposed to using it in a Vantec USB 2.0 enclosure?

A 2GB min/max on SSD is more than enough, dont over mess with the system settings anyway. And previous poster means system images, like acronis/ghost/macrium etc

Imaging to an extra internal drive is perfectly valid. The disk is a lot faster when installed to a Sata port rather than to a USB2.
