Intuitiveness mainly, it's like the ribbon on Windows. People who are used to a menu bar find it much much less intuitive and less categorised but people who aren't (noobs) find it quite easy to use and therefore like it.

I prefer Gnome over KDE actually. In Linux Mint, Gnome is used but it's set up like KDE (start menu) with search like the Windows 7 start menu.

Linux Mint booted from my jump drive is very cool and looks great. I like it much much better than Puppy Linux. There is nothing wrong with Puppy, but it doesn't have the same pizazz as Mint
