Anyway in my oppinion the World watches these two sporting events above all others.

it's what we grow up on in the states. soccer, oh, excuse me... Football as you know it is not quite an afterthought here, but... it's just... it's just is not all that great or exciting--from an american viewpoint.

Well i'm that much into football/socer either, but i acknowledge it purely as a sporting event. It's not about race, not about where you live (country). Facts are facts. There is no other sporting event on earth that can command more viewing audience than Worldcup football. Worldcup football is respected and loved by all walks of live, all colors of skin, all cultures and it even is politically and non politcally induced. It may not be as popular in one country than in another, but one country (or even a few), unfortunately don't make up the world.

That said i don't believe in the US, there is any sporting event bigger than the Superbowl.

Because we call it AFL I rarely hear it referred to as 'football'. We also have 2 other codes of football League and Union.

FWIW most Aussies call football - 'soccer' as well but I live with a fastidious husband who has drilled it into me that there is only ONE football and it involves a round black and white ball
