Why is Adobe killing it's software?

I've just checked at Adobe and the CC suite is UK£548 /year. When it was last sold as a standalone IIRC the price was around £3K, so the subscription equates to 6 years use, which is fair enough. I use Photoshop and After Effects every day, the others less so. I make 3D animations using Cinema 4D, and I import image sequences into AE for compositing - couldn't manage without it. In fact AE CC now has a free lite version of C4D built in. Considering C4D has (like a lot of pro gfx software) a £3K price tag, that's not a bad deal.
