This is just something I came across in my "Event Viewer"

"Name resolution for the name http://www.facebook.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded."

Log name: System

Source: DNS Client Events Logged 9 7 17 8:12 P.M.

Event Id: 1014 Task Category : none

Level: Warning

User: Network Service Computer : PHILSHTPC

OpCode : Info

Why did it try in the first place? I do not have a Facebook acct. , and do not plan on ever having one,

Thanks for your insight on this.

I usually try to ignore most event viewer warnings if all is running well. Its more of a thing that I loath Big Corporations and the NSA types that just do what that want in the background of our devices.

Set your DNS to 208.67.220.220 & 208.67.222.222 that's protected DNS and very fast. It could just be it's trying to resolve a link

Agreed with crapware installed on your computer, Look at your startup programs Type msconfig into a command prompt, and then press the Enter key. In the System Configuration window that appears click on the Startup and disable all the programs you do not use. CCleaner is also good for this.

Also on a related note I was recently reading a article on how much bandwidth Facebook take up on a lot of web sites.

Why Facebook Like buttons account for 16% of an average website’s code

Why Facebook Like buttons account for 16% of an average website’s code

According to data collected by BuiltWith.com, 6% of the top 10,000 most high-traffic sites load content from Facebook’s servers. For the vast majority of them, that content is likely Facebook’s Javascript SDK, a huge block of code that is needed to display such features as the Like button (as seen on many media sites) and Facebook comments widgets (also used on many big media sites, Buzzfeed among them).

You will have to read the article to understand why 6% magically works out to be 16%

Agreed with sml156 here. While you may never accessed the site directly, other pages often contain features such as comments, "like" buttons and embeed some features of Facebook on their own site. The browser has no choice but to make a request to Facebook to download that content and retrieve the full page. Those request produce the DNS query you're seeing.
Unfortunately it has become very common for websites to do so, so you we can only expect those kind of lookups to continue appearing. On the other hand, without an account, there isn't too much they do to you.

Of course, Facebook loves collecting and selling your private data, so you might want to block them if you hate them that much. It's very unlikely that you have any kind of malware in your computer, at least from the information given here.

I would like to mark this solved

Thanks to all those that replied. I am going with Alejandro85 as the most logical conclusion seeing as how I already know I have very good security programs in place and all is running smooth. Also I heard something recently about ccleaner coming with some malware or some crap like that so I wouldn't recommend anybody using it even though I have heard lots of people liking the program itself. It is a shame there are so many jackasses out there that f with everything. Facebook and Goggle both have good products however they are tarnished by their lack of ethics!
