Hi,
After using my Laptop (Windows 7 64bit Home Premium with all updates including latest available drivers) I usually just close the lid to put it into "Sleep Mode". When I wake it up, the WiFi link never re-establishes the connection to my router, even though I have configured the system to 'Connect Automatically'. I have to click on the WiFi Icon in the System Tray, select my Router and then manually connect. The same thing happens if I power off the laptop and then restart.....
I have also checked in the 'Network and Sharing Centre" and the options"Connect automatically when this network is within range" and "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)" are both ticked......
I really would appreciate a solution to this annoying problem.
Kind Regards & Stay Safe

this is usually the main cause, you might also have under the advanced tab - a sleep setting dissable it

Hi Torchwood,Thanks for your reply - much appreciated !

The setting you mentioned " Properties >> Power management > uncheck allow computer to turn off." is already unchecked and there is nothing within the Advanced Tab which would appear to be relevant....

However, having done a bit more research this morning, I found a report that disabling the following 'Hidden' devices in the Network Adapters , may cure the problem.....

Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter #2

Microsoft WiFi Direct Virtual Adapter #3

Microsoft WiFi Direct Virtual Adapter #4

I disabled all three devices and that seems to have cured my problem both after 'Sleeping' and full power down/power up cycle.....
