I'm located in Mexico at the moment. Here the internet is pretty unreliable at times. I use izzi also known as cablemas. Many times the internet would go out... modem go out etc happens randomly. Its not only me but others as well that i know who live here in Mexico.
My issue now is my modem... which also acts as the router... you cannot connect via wifi. I have an ethernet cable so thus im connected hardwired. I almost always connect hard wired. The thing though is if i didn't have an ethernet cable, i cannot go online.
I try to connect to it from my laptop but it doesn't connect. I try to connect from my iphone... it keep asking me for the password before i click join. I typed the password and it keeps getting me back to the same screen of what is my password. My password on my laptop is already saved and thats why it doesnt ask me on laptop. But can someone tell me why my wifi doesn't work? Basically if i had no ethernet cable, i cannot connect via wifi. I have powered off and powered on the modem... same issue. Is it with my settings? If so, where in settings do i go and check it? The thing is i havent ever changed my settings since i dont know how to do this. Back in the us... i recall i would go 168.xxx.xxx and then go to settings etc.
There are two things that strike me and that is (if the machine has a wifi card??) it will need a driver and second you need to set the machine up with the modem password and by the way what is that device??

On your laptop that does connect to the wifi, look at the connection and select the option to "Show password". Ensure that you are using the correct password.

It's scary to think that anyone would keep that password. I change the password immediately.

well my laptop is sager np2740. However, that shouldn't be anything related because i tried to connect my iphone 4s to it via wifi and have the same issue.
The password is the right password as i never changed it.
I have no idea why the wired connection for my laptop works though.
Hmm not personally have anything to do with Apple products all I can say is my Samsung android syncs to the computers via wifi and Blu tooth. Have you tried Blu tooth??

If you search this forum for "sager np2740" you will get a feel for how many times you have been asked that question. There is a reason that this forum has a "My System Specs" section. You could avoid wasting members' time if you would just fill that info out. You can use this link http://www.sevenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra to update that info. However, you are probably correct in stating that the laptop model has nothing to do with this issue.
Download the manual for your modem/router/wireless access point combo and learn how to visit the interface where you change the "Wi-Fi" security key (what you are calling a password). [Hopefully, that interface will let you see the current security key.]
If the current security key has been changed, then someone got into the router and changed that key or something barfed within the router to cause a change.
If the current security key looks correct, then change the key anyway to get the router's attention. If you must, you can then change the key back to what it was.
You should also change the password that is used to access the router's settings.
