Solved Win 7 has started to ask for a password on startup

Novice John

After downloading an update about a year ago, my Win 7 64 bit Home Premium started to ask for a password on startup.
I reset the password and all was well for 6 months. I repeated the operation after 6 months and it worked well until last week
Because It's only me that uses the PC, I repeated the resetting of the password, using 1234567 for my own convenience and now windows is demanding I enter 1234567 every time I turn my PC on.
I love Win 7,but this is nearly as bad as having to enter my password every time I switch on my phone.

Is there any way I can override this password nonsence.
Also there is a windows update that will not download. It is 314Mb and has been offering itself as an update for nearly a year now. Should I try harder to download it and, if so, how do I do it?
Thanks, John

Because it's only me using my laptop I set a blank password. This means that it goes straight to the desktop when I turn it on.

Tried both methods, without success

Many thanks S1W2 and Bree, for your help.
I tried, " Untick-- Users must enter a a user name..........". Unforrtunately, it was already unticked. I have yet to download the updates, because I've been ill.
I've tried to change the password back to a blank box, but the computer says, no.
It looks as though I'm stuck with 1234567 as a password.
Thanks,
John

Cheers Brink

Cheers Brink, for taking the time to try and help.
I notice that you are using Windows 11. Unfortunately I'm still using Win 7 and do not want to change.
My password is working perfectly now, but I stupidly used 7 characters.
I'd just love to go back to my old system that worked for 20 years, before MS decided to mess it up in one of its many updates recently.
