Win 7 isn't detecting my nVidia GeForce 9800

Wow. Apparently your card is not listed in the the driver.

I fixed that for you. So, download my attachment. Extract from it and use my .inf to overwrite the original you have in C:\NVIDIA somewhere.

Then, go to device manager. Right click standard vga. Update driver software. Browse my computer. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse.

Now double click on NV_DISP.inf that you replaced and hit ok. Hit next. Let it install and then when done, reboot.

Choose an Aero theme by right clicking desktop, Personalize.

Run the exe in C:\NVIDIA somewhere that has control panel in its name or very similar, to install the Control Panel.

You will have to Google for a way to permanently disable driver enforcement because you are using x64. It exists.

As a workaround, you can use f8 key when you start your machine each time, to do so.

Enjoy!

It still not working.
Btw, it shows that NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT is digitally signed. Does it means anything special?

Go into the bios and disable the onboard vga. Set the primary display adapter to be PCI-e.

Then, install the normal x64 driver in the normal method from NVIDIA's site.

The one you're trying now is for NVIDIA G96 card and that's what is causing problems.

I have disabled the onboard vga, and I am quite sure that I had set the primary display adapter to be PCI-e. Now when I try to install the driver, the setup is running (using your .inf), but then it shows a message like "the system has not been modified. To install this program later time, run the installation again."

Now that onboard is disabled, just use the original installed from NVIDIA to install.

Thank you for all your efforts to help me, but it still not working. I don't know what should I do. Maybe the only solution is to go back to XP.
