win 7 reboots randomly Kernel-Power

random BSOD's

re post 33 like to add that I tried a lot of the solutions that were offered and did most of the testing advised including running mem test for 24 hrs. No fault was found yet the error has been finally solved by taking out mem sticks one by one and determining that one of the mem sticks was faulty.
Please check mem sticks individually to confirm the proper operation of each of them! John

thx for any help

Howdy All!
I'm new here and have the literally same mystic problem as YARO and AIG. I was running Vista Ultimate x64 on my current configuration and everything was OK (except that it was Vista by itself :D) then I made upgrade to Win7 Ultimate x64 w/o any problem. It was also working OK for almost a month and than absolutely chaotic/random reboots w/o any BSOD started with the same Event log as posted by YARO (and described by AIG) at the very top of this topic.

Well... OK. I made the absolutely clean installation of same Win7. Same problem:( - reboots occasionally happened even in a few seconds after power-up, i.e. before the actual OS loading start.

Well... OK. I made the absolute clean installation of same Vista.
Everything looks OK! At least no reboots...

I understood from this thread that AIG finally settled the matter by swapping PSU to a 50W bigger one, but I failed to find any further comments/replies from YARO...

YARO, AIG and others-who-know... pls help!

Thank you.;)

oops... bad news. after working fine for some three-four hours Vista was also rebooted a few times with pretty short intervals while installing SP2... DAMN!!!

Try lowering memory speed. It did help for me with this crash, though I suspect that the real issue is the memory modules or motherboard not providing sufficient power to memories.

request for AIG to chime in

Since I obviously fixed my problem, I have only kept a distant eye on this thread, and others that I subscribed to when attempting to fix my problem.

IMHO there appears to be a common thread of hardware problems - one guy mentioned replacing his hard drive, others memory, mine was PS. I have also noticed a lot of issues that contain power/electrical problems. It appears that Windows 7 is slightly less tolerant of hardware/electrical issues than its predecessors.

Although my machine does not randomly reboot since I replaced the power supply, I still have a circular reboot error as soon as the ctr-alt-del message shows on the screen. What I did to get around it, was pull the network cable...... once I log in to my network (it is cached obviously), I plug the cable back in and life is great.

I am just too busy to investigate that problem..... I figure that it will get solved eventually..... I saw a ton of internet posts related to that specific problem - again with no singular fix.

Once the larger companies start selling their systems, they will be able to better narrow down the specifics through their help desk data - and forward it on to Microsoft.

Yep, the problem was one of the new memory modules. Luckily I got four of them, so it was really easy to identify the problem and now I'm waiting for memory modules from service.

Hi,

I have/had the same problem. After many tests during 2 months, I found out my processor was faulty. Flashback: I switched my processor with my brother's, now I don't have any problems whatsoever. Today I've sent my cpu to the shop, I'm waiting for the result. Maybe this helps someone.

Guys,

I work in IT for a medium sized company and windows 7 deployment has stalled because of this issue...

I found out if you increase the voltage just a little bit of your memory, board and cpu it then works fine with no reboots. Obviously, your BIOS needs to be recent AND have the option to increase the mem, board, cpu. This worked on 3 PC's that I've tested. Including my own at home. They haven't rebooted in weeks.

I guess win7 handles the power management a bit differently... I've also read something elsewhere about microsoft's acpi power management and it could maybe be related.

Hope this help anyone.

Cheers

Good on ya! I was having the same problem with my computer, which was a clearance bargin during the boxing day sales. My colleague who has some extensive experience in working on the companies hardware advised me that it's always a good idea to replace the manufacturers PSU when buying a system with a quality PSU, since the cheapest components are typically used by the manufacturer.

I purchased the Corsair HX450W and could sense the quality straight from the box. It comes complete with a 7 year warranty to boot, so retains the value after usage.

I'm yet to experience the same problem again, which happened frequently on my old Liteon 350W PSU, and it didn't cost me the world to fix it.

I'm hoping I can still use it on my graphics card upgrade I'm planning to get (ATI HD Raedon 4890), as the manufacturer's website recommmends a minimum of 550W. I'm betting that's for the crossfire version though.

I've had the same problem since early January after two months on a new system. It was at least daily for several weeks and then stopped for almost two weeks and it now back, but not every day. Strangely, it has never occurred between 6PM and 7AM. I have virus scans and off site back ups running during those hours as well as in the day time. I replaced my 850 watt power supply and have run a few passes on the memory. The problem typically occurs when I'm out of the room. Give all the posts I've seen on the web, it seems to be somewhat common. I have different hardware from the other posters so I don't think a specific piece of hardware is causing the problem. I'm just posting to give people a gauge of the extent of the problem. I'll try some of the suggestions posted earlier to see if the problem goes away.

I tried to add this to my original message twice, but it doesn't seem to take.

The BSOD indicates it's writing a dump file, but I can't find it. Is the file type hidden by default?

I assume you've checked in the event viewer in administrative tools under the system event tabs? It's a very long shot since you already have a whopping 850W PSU, but if you've found the logs to be missing there, my guess is that it could be under powering the HDD when it has it's episodes, which could explain the missing event logs.

You could also check the device manager or run an msinfo32 in the run prompt to see if there are any problem devices being detected. It might also be worth telling us a little more of the spec on your system, as the demands differ.

Finally, you could double check to see if all the correct cables from the psu are attached and not loosely fitted, provided you don't void your own warranty (unless custom built).

Hope all this helps

I found the dumps. They had a different name than I was expecting. They all appear to be there. I couldn't figure out how to look at it in Visual Strdio so I used windbg. It spite of downloading, installing, and pointing to symbols, it complained about missing symbols. I couldn't upload on as it didn't like the file type. I have WinRAR so I don't know if I can zip it.

I checked msinfo32 for problem devices and found none. My system is in my profile, but I'll include it below.

The machine is custom built. I've already replaced the power supply. I checked the connections when I put it in. I'm going to install a CDROM today so I'll check again.

Since I last posted, I gotten a number of dumps. Sometime two or three in a day, sometimes none. So far none today. I never had one from about 6 PM to 7AM. I run it 24 x 7, and I do use it after 6 PM.

I have the same Error 41.

Just installed Win 7 Professional (many dramas - turned out to be bluetooth wireless mouse/keyboard issue). I find my system rebooting spontaneously after 90 - 180 seconds after login screen and sitting there with the DVD drive flashing and seeking... no other action til I soft reset.

There was one session where I got in about a half hour setting up wifi and initial drivers before I had to reboot the computer, and the issue started again!!
Tried all recommended checks and fixes (except new PSU... will pick one up this week) - no luck!!

What gets me is that if I boot into my old Vista HP loaded on my other HD, the system continues to run no probs????

Hardware issue? - not in Vista!

Win 7 issue???

I've been building my PCs for 25 years and this has me stumped, so Sorry, I have no solutions to offer... thought it might help with the overall picture of what is happening for us poor mugs. Gotta love M$???

Regular BSODs

I seem to have a similar problem to everyone else in this thread.
My system has continually played up since I bought it about 5 weeks ago.
My very first power up gave me three blue screen crashes with a "cpu fan error" and 2 beeps on POST. The system was bought overclocked (from 3.2 to 4 GHz) and I assumed this was the problem but during most of these crashes the BIOS reverted to default settings and still produced errors.
Eventually one of the BSODs corrupted my windows installation so I was forced to reload windows and was told by my suppliuer to run MemTest - this gave no errors after 2 hours so the computer was returned for inspection.
It was returned to me fairly promptly (not a good sign!) after the bios had been reset (same as I had done on numerous occasions) and tested without fault for 24 hours.
Guess what happened when I powered up - yes the dreaded BSOD after the " starting windows" screen appeared.
The BSODs vary and include stop:0x24, 0x50 and 0x3b errors. I also am now getting blank screens regularly after the starting windows message and the only way to get over this is to power down and restart. Once up and running the computer nearly always performs OK - it is just the starting phase that gives a problem.
I have tried many of the suggestions listed on this thread including reseating all connectors, memory sticks, video card, adjusting ram voltage , dram frequency, updated the bios, reloading windows (three times so far) without effect.
I have just ordered some different ram to try but am running out of ideas.

Well guys, after much messing around I found a solution (to my problem at least). I was sus on Intel Speed Step, so disabled C1E and EIST in BIOS, and have not had a problem since! Win 7 is stable, and I'm happy . Such a simple fix in the end.

We could actually use the DMP file. Use these to find and upload. http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/34900-1-novice-how-ask-help-bsod-problem.html Also just as a heads up, it is always better for you if you start your own thread.

Thanks

Ken

Hi,
I have been reading thru this forum and have found other people with the same instances and or error as I do with a couple of PC's that I have recently built. I read the thread that spoke about re-enabling hybernation on Windows 7 Pro, to help address voltage irregularity problems. This did not seem to work. I am a bit confused because I have built 7 of this duplicate systems with the same hardware, but only have one that is exibiting this issue. Could it be a defective PSA ( power supply)????:sarc:
