Trying to install XP home as a dual boot. I followed the tutorial; it loads the initial files during setup, then when the "welcome to setup" screen appears, my computer shuts down.

Dell N5010
new WD 1 TB sata
8GB ram
Win 7 Home premium 32 bit(installed win 7 first)
i3 CPU, 2.27GHz

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

This computer was not designed to run XP. Likely there is an incompatibility there.

If you go on the Dell website, there are no XP drivers, only Vista and 7 drivers.

You could try running XP in a virtual machine rather than as one of the host OSs.
