Hello.

I will make some hardware changes in the computer. A new MB, a new CPU and a SSD. At the moment I have only a 1TB HDD who has 3 partitions. C - System, D - Games, E - Others.

I wolud like to make a clean instal of Win7 (but not so clean :) ) on SSD and to keep settings from old Win7 in the HDD. I don't mind to reinstall stuff like Adobe, antivirus, CCCleanr, e.t.c I am interested not to reinstall games (which are in partition D) and big stuff 20G, 30G.

What are the method(s) to accomplish my intention?

I do apologize but i got a little lost here. So just to clarify, you have a physical machine & you'd like to basiclly replace the HDD with a new SSD?

You also mentioned a new MotherBoard, & CPU. Have these already been replaced? Typiclly with MotherBoard upgrades, you typiclly have to do a reinstall of windows. CPU upgrades typicly only result in you having to reapply the windows key.

If new MB/CPU isn't something you'd be doing, then installing a image based backup tool will be your best option for this. This way you can restore striat from the backup to the SSD. I recommend ShadowProtect from StorageCraft. With their restores, they offer a Hardware independent restore (HIR) for machines restoring to different hardware. This would apply to you with replacing MB/CUP. However you can't do HIR restores on the free trial. Only restores to the same hardware. So you'd need a license for that.

You mentioned about not wanting to reinstall games. Are these games locally ran of disk or are they ones you have the licensing in the cloud like how Steam manages it?

I will make the hardware modification in a month or two.

1. The HDD will remain in the machine alongside the SSD.

2. About the games yes there is Steam in the machine. Actually the machine is my son's machine I'am not so familiar with games.

3. It's not neccesary to reinstall Win 7 when changing the mobo. I did this on my machine a while ago, almost a year. I uninstalled the drivers, changed the mobo, change from BIOS the HDD on IDE, let the Win to negotiate with the new mobo, restart, changing back on AHCI (this implied a second restart) and installed the new drivers.

Once you change the motherboard Windows 7 may or may not activate.
Depends on which Windows 7 COA key one has.
That is why I asked you to complete the two tutorials.
