Hey there,
BRAND new to this forum but I've been a lurker for quite a while. I've got a custom build Win 7 Ultimate x64 box that, every time I boot the computer, the CPU is hammered by a Svchost (Power, PlugNPlay, DComLaunch). I cannot for the life of me figure out what's going on so I'm asking for help. Here are a few environmentals:
Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Asus P6T mobo with latest BIOS
18 GB mixed-brand RAM (2 matching sets)
Tons of storage over several drives (some SATA, 3 USB) (OS lives on SSD)
Nvidia GTX 460 with the latest drivers
It takes the computer several hours before the CPU stops doing what it's doing. I usually reboot at night to use the computer the following day.
I had followed this thread down until they got to the sound issues, which turned out to not be my issue (in case anyone was going to point that thread out to me).
I had hoped to install Windows 8.1 (for the speed) but had a similar issue. I loaded Windows 7 (old reliable, right?) and ran into the same issue so I decided I needed to face it head-on rather than trying to dodge it, which is why I'm here.
Thanks in advance!
