AVG used to disable Windows Defender on my PC (and still does in my W7 VMs).

Panda does disable defender.

It seems to me that all the Windows 10 developers have shares in Windows 7.

I was referring to the fact that they appear to be so keen to deter people from using Windows 10 and keep Windows 7 as the universally preferred OS that one would think they held shares in Windows 7.

You got that right! Besides other reasons, the latest nail M$ pounded into Win 10's coffin for me is discontinuing Window's Media Center.

Also as far as I am concerned Ten has actually got worse the more they work on it. Looks horrible, 2 color icons, they just had to move everything from control panel to settings and are selling it with a stupid talking demigod, a long lost relative of clippy. Why would anyone who has Windows 7 downgrade to Ten? I have given it enough time, they have been told numerous times what the computing public wants and they are still pressing ahead with the Metroification and Tabletization model even though tablets are in decline and the mobile market is saturated.
Still what do I know.....I told them Vista would not work on hardware they recommended, I told them Windows 8 would not work with a tiles menu and no easy navigation clues (and no end of other things) and I have told them numerous stuff about Windows 10 and only heard back on one thing which they declined to reinstate.

I totally agree. Win 10 looked promising when the tech previews came out but has gone steadily downhill with each new version they crank out. The fact that they have accelerated the RTM date while the previews are still buggier than a flophouse bed is even more worrisome.

Well, I got AVAST before it was linked to CNET and I have been updating the program directly on the program since I first got it. It seems though that the CNET download of AVAST and AVG have no bloatware in my experience.

Given the excessive number of bad updates MS has released over the past few years, this new policy will be a disaster for them.
"Everyday" there will be a new outbreak of bad publicity as people's PCs get screwed up.

Yea, I have multi boot PC's so i like having different AV's on different OS's.
That way i can test drive them and see for myself what i think...
And, if an AV update bricks an OS, i should still be able to reboot immediately with a different OS/AV.


I'm thinking of adding Avira back into my mix, I wonder if SF Specs will let me show more AV info ?

People have been complaining about some update from this month's collection.

I can't remember which update it was.
It might be related to KB3048761, which I haven't installed yet.
It's KB3022345.

I thought there was a thread on SevenForums about it, but I can't find it.
