Windows 7 breaks keyboard...

For some reason if I hold my SHIFT key for too long (like 10 seconds or so) it will disable my whole keyboard, and make some weird ticking sound every time I press a key, but it won't do anything. Restarting seems to be the only option to get it back to work.

Is there any way to disable this? Is there any reason why this happens?

My first step would be to try with a new keyboard. Make sure key board is not the problem.

Well I got the keyboard like 3 weeks ago with my new PC. It's a completely new keyboard, and it works just fine, except after holding SHIFT for too long...
Oh, and the ticking sound comes from the computer, not the keyboard btw.=p

Welcome to Windows 7 forum. What would make you think that Windows 7 is giving you that problem. I just tried holding shift key down for 30 seconds and it caused no problems. Most keyboard problems are caused by the keyboard or drivers. If it was my computer I would try another keyboard first. It's simple to do and it can't hurt. The Syestems Specs that you have posted don't help much. The more information you give us will help us help you.

Sorry, I don't have any other keyboards I can try out. I used a laptop before I got this PC. What kind of information would help? I got an Acer PC, and the keyboard is Acer too, it came with the PC.

PS2 keyboard? If yes I believe that sound is telling you that the keyboard buffer on the motherboard is full. I've only ever heard that when holding a key down during the post trying to get into the bios.

Hi Milenin welcome to W7F :)

Until you can find a test keyboard try going to:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Ease of Access Center\Make the keyboard easier to use

Scroll down and if Filter Keys is ticked, un-tick it.
Then click on Set Up Filter Keys
If Turn on filter keys is ticked un-tick it.
If turn on filter keys when right-shift is pressed for longer than 8 seconds is ticked un-tick it.

Click on apply for any changes you make, then click okay when done.
If you do make changes see if your new settings help.

Strange Shift Key Behavior (Microsoft Word)

You do not have to have MS Word installed for this behavior to occur.

Your welcome, I am happy to be of assistance.

There are users that create filter keys, and they can be of great use for certain types of physical disabilities, such as hand tremors.
