Windows 7 Bug?

i found more bugs in windows 7. When i run programs simultaneously from several external usb hd's and then constatly plug and unplug all usb cables, some programs stop running.

Another bug i found, using my test machine, is that when i cut the power from the main switch when windows is booting, after 20 or 30 retries windows can no longer read my hd.

All these bugs, why can't they give us a working os?

I still don't see why this deserves an entire debate. Most people don't need 75-80 explorer Windows open.

It's not really a debate, but more of an interesting fact. Practically you probably won't have this issue, but I'm surprised that you do.

Exactly. Like how 32-bit systems can't handle more than ~3.5 GB of RAM. It's not a bug, it's just the way the system works.

Surely you know a 32-bit OS can handle more than 4 GB of physical ram. You probably meant to say it's just the way Microsoft licenses memory usage.

I still think it's a bug and NOT a feature. Also, whilst 75 explorer windows sounds like a lot, in the days of ssds, 24gb mem, 6 core processors, why shouldnt the OS handle it? Answers on a postcard....

Because it allows your older programs to run on it, making your life easier and cheaper.

Not desktop versions, which makes this point not applicable to this subject, or even these forums, yet someone always has to bring it up, serving only to belittle someone else and muddle the information given to the OP. Please not, I'm not technically directing my mini-rant at you....it just happens every friggin' time this subject is discussed, and 99.9% of the time, PAE isn't applicable.

Yes, mine crapped out at exactly 80 explorer Windows with Ctrl-E. Running 64-bit Ultimate with 8GB of RAM. Just got a cursor and the spinning blue wheel.

Did you find any other extraordinary ways to crash Win7?

If you are correct, increasing the desktop heap may help the TS in his quest for 80+ open windows.

I believe I did. This is the only forum that brings in multiple quotes, rather than just what the one particular person said. I think I deleted the wrong set of tags. But yes, my comments were in response to what Vector said.

I tested it on my x64 Win7 with 4GB RAM using a little program I wrote. I tried 50, 100, 500, then 1000 Notepads.

At 500 and 1000, my system was unusable. At 1000 Notepads, it warned me that resources were short and asked me if I wanted to stop Aero.

At no time did it bluescreen or otherwise error. I just couldn't do anything on the system.
