Windows 7 causes DSL modem to disconnect

Hi

I am having the strangest issue regarding windows 7 and my DSL connection. Let me try and explain it first:

I have a number of PC's that are connected wirelessly to the router these vary in operating systems from XP through to Mac OS. Connected to the router by cable is a Windows 7 PC and a linksys PAP2t (Voip). The router I am using is a linksys WRVS4400N (yes I know they already have known issues) and this is then connected to the modem which is a Billion BiPAC 5200. The billion modem is set in bridge mode so that the linksys router does all the connecting to the WAN.

Now if I use any of the NON Windows 7 pc's, I have no problem at all. I can sit on the internet for days on end without a single issue. As soon as I try to browse the internet with my Windows 7 PC, it causes the WAN to disconnect. After a minute or so it reconnects but once again I can only get through about 1 web page load on my windows 7 PC before it disconnects once again. If I then turn the Windows 7 PC off and start using one of the other PC's the internet goes back to normal and never disconnects.

What have I done to try and solve the problem?

- Connect Windows 7 PC directly to modem (Billion) and set wan settings in modem so that it is not in bridge mode.
- Contacted ISP several times
- Set static IP addresses on windows 7 PC
- Used 2 other types of modems (D-link and linksys)

All of these still have the same problem. When browsing the net on the Windows 7 PC it disconnects but with any other OS it works as per usual.

A few things I should point out:

- snr down=9 up=27
- line Att down=55 up=30
- The isp dramatically reduced my connection speed and that appeared to solve the problem but why does it only occur when using windows 7?
- The problem did disappear for at least a month but then reappeared
- It started to occur after downloading a large file using bit torrent The file still hasn’t been completed and I have turned bit torrent off.

What I don't understand is why it only occurs when using Windows 7!

My understanding is that the systems connected to the network can't cause the modem to disconnect. Is this true? and if so then once again why does it only occur on the windows 7 PC? Could there be a virus or Trojan that can cause the problem? I am getting extremely frustrated by it as everything I have tried, has had no success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hallo maite.I have exect same problem with wirless and win7 and i am trying to find the way of sorting it out but no luck yet.Can you drop the info if you will get it somwhere else, and i will do the same.

I was having a similar problem with a Zyxel P-660HN-F1Z

I have disabled IP6 and the "Virtual PC Network Printer Driver" and that seemed to fix the problem. I have not yet tried with only one of these disabled to see which one it could be causing the problem.
