Windows 7 Classic Theme Start button text

Hello,

For n number of reasons I have to use the classic theme in Windows 7 and can't explain further. Have many pinned items on taskbar as well. I wanted to remove the text "Start" in the start button and leave the orb only. I checked few dlls, but no help yet. Have a desire to see only the program image icons, and no text on taskbar, so trying out this.

Additionally, I checked this which targets to remove the image: 226707-windows-7-classic-theme-start-button-icon.html
I came across many posts on how to do this in Windows XP, e.g. http://www.askvg.com/how-to-change-start-button-text-in-windows-using-resource-hacker, but these don't work in Windows 7.

You could install Classic Shell for Windows 7 (http://www.classicshell.net/). It will allow you to do a lot of customization, including putting a different start button.

Agreed, but don't want to use 3rd party tool. I'm looking for minimal changes by modifying some .dll file or similar approach without introducing external tools?

Similar situation here, with exact same desire. I use Explorer++ to completely replace Windoze Explorer--it solves all sorts of problems for me--but it doesn't offer that particular option. Of course I've already replaced the default windows bitmap with my own using Resource Hacker. But how can we get that dang text off? (It's not a string resource in shellbrd.dll--I looked.)

Looks like there's no solution for me and rohitoberoi, as it's been a month with no replies since he posted, but I figured there couldn't be any harm in a bump. Promise I won't do it again.
