I have dell xps9100 with 12 gb ram, lately my computer is acting very strange and very often I have to click twice or more than twice in order for any normal clicks function to work. It's like the first click doesn't register at all. Not a double click, but two/three separate clicks are needed. Frustrating..

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Select single click.
Apply/Ok

Now do single click and count how long it takes to open something.
Do not click more than once.

It will give us a idea if their is so much running in the background it slow down opening other things.

You also might have a mouse button problem.

I would suggest not using Hijackthis.
It is not designed for a 64 bit system and can get you in a deep pile of do do.

Let's begin with the most simple and trivial check before doing anything complicated.

Have you tried with another mouse? So that you can ensure that it's not a simple malfunctioning hardware button.
