Windows 7, college cafe in both GoogleMyDrive and Dropbox
(Freebooter, Snick, technoMag, others, this thread is especially for youse all)

I just finished re-arranging the chairs on what just might be another type of Titanic, hopefully, rather, these two ships will sail, eventually, just fine.

Because of the impending problem of running out of free-space on both GoogleMyDrive and Dropbox,
I either have to "freeze the content byte-total" or begin to upgrade and pay for more space.

Concerning GoogleMyDrive's college cafe folder:
-- 1) what is the fastest way to make both totally open, readable, downloadable by anyone on the internet?
-- 2) what is the fastest way to eliminate all tiny edit groups in each of the folders in college cafe?

So far, I am the only person that exists on Dropbox's college cafe, there are no tiny edit groups in any folder.

**admin, mods, I think this thread is in the wrong forum, please place where you know it should go.
I had to hurriedly post this, and release the laptop for another user -- my beloved better half! **

You should look into an even better cloud storage called Amazon AWS S3. Providing you don't go over the allotted limits withen the first year, its usage is comply free for that first year. After that it can be just pennies a month. You would have to use their calculator and figure out how much storage you'll use now and in the future plus the amount of push/pulls. But I'm willing to bet for for a SOHO (Small Home Office) setup, you're data pulls/pushes won't be very much.

In my use of S3, I use it to offload attachments from my website for data segregation to keep page load times at an optimum. Plus, when a file or image is uploaded it not only sends it to S3, but another copy is stored on the host. If I turn off S3 then all attachments are then read from the host directly instead of Amazon AWS S3 links. And if an attachment is deleted or a post is deleted the file is also deleted from the host and S3. Although, I think thumbnails are still retained. It was an issue with this particular extension I use in my phpBB-based board.

There are also WordPress plug-ins that can use S3 to offload images and what have you. And then there are plug-ins for Amazon Cloudfront to offload Java Scrip, CSS, etc to help speed up a website.

Anyway, check out AWS S3 and the WinSCP FTP client which will allow you to navigate an S3 bucket. I use WinSCP as my FTP client of choice. Many people gravitate towards Filezilla, yet don't think to turn on binary mode which isn't on by default, unlike WinSCP. People then who use Filezilla wonder why all of their images have been messed up in the public_html folder.

In addition to WinSCP, check out CloudBerry which can also use S3 for computer backups among other cloud backups. I think Dropbox and Google drive are supported. I use it myself on two computers. Just learn to use Keepass to store your credentials and backup Keepass's database all over hell every time you add an entry or two. I encrypt my Keepass database yet again with a Trucrypt (I know, I know, should be using Veracrypt yada, yada) container that uses a cascade of ciphers of AES, Twofish and Serpent. The password is very long, but crafted in a way my memory will always remember it and it's my memory only that I use . It's never written down or stored anywhere. i.e. Think of three acronyms like NSA, FBI, CIA. Any acronyms. Now you have NSAFBICIA. Lower case the first letter in each. nSAfBIcIA. Add numbers and symbols. nSAfBIcIA1234&^%$. Bob's your uncle with a pretty decent password. Now make it a tab bit more complex with the use of hyphens between each acronym. nSA-fBI-cIA-1234&^%$. Or underscores if you want. nSA_fBI_cIA_1234&^%$. Now I shouldn't have to tell you that this password/s will more than likely end up on someone's wordlist, so don't use it.

I gotta laugh about my free tier cloud drive service I was grandfathered into. I'm not naming it, but I had a free account of only 10 GB and a max of a 250 MB file upload. I use it in addition to other sources for encrypted website backups. Well, this particular cloud storage provider decided to charge what was free, but I've been grandfathered into it and it's still free for me. The only issue is that my website backups have grown beyond the 250 MB file upload limit. So since this cloud provider allows you to upload folders or files, I use the folder option. What I do is use a program called Gsplit and split the encrypted website backup into three 150 MB parts, throw them all in a a folder and upload the folder. Tada! No more 250 MB file limit imposed. HAHAHA! Now who ever said file splitters in this day and age have no use is a fool. Just like my precious optical media of DVD/RW and Blu-ray Re disks with which have VERY good bit integrity. Those are all stored in two fireproof safes. You can buy a fire proof safe for around $35 bucks. To think people think optical drives are old hat. Nothing could be further from the truth. No, FACT!

This is what I have so far...
cc@GMD&Drpbx -- share in some bd boards
college cafe - Google Drive
Login - Dropbox
I guess I have to use the following to share... How to Share a Dropbox File or Folder | Dropbox Help
I plan to ultimately trim the individual groups in each cc/MyDrive and put all the names into the main cc folder. I guess for cc/Dropbox -- I have to create an email and send it to individuals -- concerning the cc main folder in dropbox.

Now I see who I am missing from the thread starter! PaulBlack :)
Freebooter, PaulB, Snick, technoMag - in the process of downloading GMAIL into eMClient harddrive pots, I accidentally lost some emails and some email addresses! Would youse guys PM me with your first & last name and your email address? I really need those again! Also, I think people can join as viewers simply by emailing me? Or, can people "sign up" in either MyDrive and/or Dropbox?
