Windows 7 dropping wireless connection

Have a Dell laptop E6500 with a fresh load of Windows 7 RTM. Loaded the entire machine using wireless network connection (WEP) over a Cisco Aironet 1100. Added to domain, loaded Office 2007, and applied a few Dell updated drivers.

Brought it home on a DLink DIR-628 wireless router using WPA2, and it averages about 10% packet loss...

continuously get network drops... just a small snipet.

Hmm.. could it be technical? Are the antennas ok in DIR-628?

Don't think so... I've got multiple iPhones, SqueezeBox, and about 3 other laptops (non-W7) that work fine on that Dlink... been good for about 6 months or so.

Think it is WPA2 vs. WEP or just the DLink itself. Looked for a firmware upgrade but latest is about a year old (1.13).

I'm back in the office on Wireless (Cisco Aironet 1100 - WEP) with no issue. So I'm sure it is specific to either WPA2 or the DLink.

You using homegroup? If not IPv6 may be the culprit. Its been shown to cause random wifi drops in home networks. Its only needed if homegroup is enabled. On a domain IPv6 is used an supplied by DC, so no problem

I am not using homegroup.. i will test disabling IPv6 and let you know what I find out. thanks for suggestion.

SOLVED: Windows 7 dropping wireless connection

Disabling IPv6 seems to have resolved my issue. Working without drops now. I suspect DLink may need a firmware revision (although I have the current one) to support IPv6 or resolve bugs/issues.
