I have another 1 TB hd. i can boot from this and my 160 GB still works as a memory storage. Its only problem is that it is unable to boot.I think if i install a new copy of window it will work.but i need to know why it was happened when 160 GB hard disc was not in used for a long time and any other way to recover it.

Create a system repair disc from your working OS. Boot from it and try to repair your 160 GB install.
