Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit SP1 Update is failing, error 0x800f0900

Update uninstalled.

Re-ran CheckSUR and sfc /scannow.

sfc again said "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

Here are the latest log files.

The CheckSUR log is very interesting - and shows that the uninstall only partially worked.

I think that this may be only the outward sign of deeper problems, so I am now very definitely leaning towards a repair install followed by the immediate install of SP1 using the downloaded standalone installer.

What do you mean by a repair install? Boot from the Windows 7 install CD?
What sort of settings, etc will I lose by doing that?

Also, I have moved certain directories around. After the initial install, I moved the \Users and \ProgramData folders to my D drive. (Making the appropriate registry changes) That keeps anything Data-ish on my D drive, which is a mirrored RAID array. Will that be a problem for a repair install?

There really is limited usefulness in moving the whole of those two structures to another drive - and a lot of reasons not to do so.
Updates assume that system folders such as \Users and \ProgramData are in certain locations, and this could certainly explain your problem, as moving such folders en-masse is known to cause problems with reinstalls (and effectively an SP install is as close to a reinstall as you can get).

I'm going to ask for help on this.

I've done this on all of my computers, for quite some time now, including back on Windows XP. It's a bit messy to due, but if you make the changes early on in the registry, and you catch them all, it works smoothly. I have one other Windows 7 computer that has this change and SP1 had no problem installing.

Moving the Users structure to a new partition disables the ability to do a repair install - as well as other things.
It means effectively that you would have to do a clean install. While 'undoing' the move is theoretically possible, it's likely to cause corruption unless done in exactly the right way. Such corruption may well last through the repair install, and make the final situation worse.

As a result, I can really only recommend a clean install.
It's quite possible to move the ordinary user data off the system drive afterwards - without moving the whole Users structure - which allows a future repair without any problem.
