Hi all
This essentially shows you can do ANYTHING with Statistics.

I would probably put better security down to MORE AWARENESS by USERS in what CAN happen -- expecially in the areas of "Social Engineering" where NO AMOUNT of computer security can prevent an attack if a user doesn't take basic precautions.

Users understanding that attacks CAN and DO happen is the best defence - far better than any "built in security" - but of course products should be made safe as possible as a matter of course.

To get back to Statistics -- there was a piece in a paper in London the other day saying that in the UK 2,000 pubs close every year -- as there are 56,000 pubs in the UK this means that you will be having your last drink in 28 years time

I don't think it will work like that - but just looking at RAW statistics without taking into account HUMAN INTERACTION will always lead to dubious and incorrect conclusions.
