All these constant leaks of Win 7 both illegally and legally. When will the finished product be ready? I assume MS workers are hard at work trying to speed up the process and get Win 7 ready by Christmas the latest. There is a lot of hype surrounding the OS so it better deliver or Apple is going to take advantage and take a big chunk out of the OS pie market and Mac OSs will emerge. I love the OS UI. It is different and stable by all accounts I have heard about. Windows originated from Apple in a lot of ways. It was the Apple OS that MS used to develop Windows and improve it over the past many years. I just want a change and enough of the drama. (lol).

What would you consider "a big chunk"? Apple OS will never come anywhere close to Windows until they officially untie it from Apple hardware. which ain't gonna happen. Too much fanboi profit to be lost.

Windows originated from Apple in a lot of ways. It was the Apple OS that MS used to develop Windows and improve it over the past many years.

Yes and Apple copied their OS from someone else so Apple and MS are as bad as each other.

I would go as far as saying this is the best version of windows so far even though there are still some issues to iron out. It will never be as good as Linux though but that is just my opinion.

IMHO

Windows 7 is Windows Vista.

However I would qualify that statement. Windows Vista became a good OS once all the drivers and software adapted to it. The Aero interface is visually appealing. I have been running Vista since the early betas ( I am what's known as an early adopter :D)

I don't for a minute believe the Microsoft hype that Windows 7 is a major release. I think 7 is what Vista should have been from the start. It's polished, lean and there are no incompatability issues (cept Punkbuster). I am one of those people that could never have XP on my system. It's 8 years old - I don't care if it's the most stable and fastest OS, it's old.

Windows 7 FTW

I don't hate Windows. I love Windows but I do think that Apple's OS is good too. Microsoft wasn't always bigger than Apple. Apple catupulted a revolution. It wasn't the dominant computing force once. Bigger than MS. MS just isn't doing as good a job now because it feels safe. I has been reported that Windows covers about 90 to 95% of the computing market. It has been that way for a long while because Bill Gates is smart. Mac has some great looking OSs but people won't give it a chance because Win is "it" right now.

Where`s the option:

Like it to be released now.

And for the Mac thing... Linux, windows.. I don`t get the whole opinion thing going on, I`ve tried mac... it was ok, just another OS. I use windows because it`s never failed me and is the platform for all my games and general office use. Mac`s seem to me to be striving for a cool gadget feel.. it has that but only for the single fact they keep it stapled to their own hardware.... very expensive whoopdeedo hardware.

If Mac sold their software standalone as it IS possible to install on a PC, people might try it. Looking at buying a 2000$+ pc just for that OS is not my idea of a good investment when I have a perfectly working, well performing PC for far less then it would take to own a mac of comparible power.

I like linux... its free and everyone contributes, a very neat idea.
