Windows 7 slower than XP/Vista?

I have a problem with a game, Zuma Deluxe. It runs fine on my computer when I have Vista, XP or W2K installed, but when I run the game on Windows 7, it stutters wildly. Same computer, same cards, nothing is changed hardware wise, except the hard disk, which I doubt would make the game stutter. Is there something I should turn off or something? I have put it in Best performance mode.

Any help would be appreciated, as this is a nice game, but unplayable on my Windows 7.

Zuma seems to be a shockwave (flash)-based game, which could behave differently under the newer DirectX version in Win7 than would exist in XP or Vista. The game wouldn't specifically be using Win32 APIs, it would run entirely in the shockwave flash environment (if I'm reviewing how this thing works correctly, anyway), so that would put it down to video driver, directx, or shockwave flash differences. Given that a flash-based game wouldn't interact with Windows directly, I can't say it would be easy to figure out. It does seem pretty old (comparatively, as it was released originally for DX7 and Win2K compatibility), though, so it could simply be designed to run in an older version of flash that doesn't run well on Windows 7.

Did that, doesn't do anything better. Really annoying stuttering, makes it unplayable. Checked for viruses with Hitman Pro, Avast, Malwarebytes and ran CCleaner. Nothing ...

Really not want to go back to Vista, but maybe I have to, cause this game is one of the few PC games I play.

I am not playing the web browser version, but the installable old Pop Cap version. Tried Shockwave updates, Flash updates and nothing helps. Tried setting compatibility mode to XP and fiddled with the other options there, not any better.
