Hello, I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 RC1 on my main machine.
When playing pc video games, specifically Left 4 Dead, the game will freeze at randoms parts. After doing alot of different fixes the main resolution was to set my video cards fan to 100% speed.
Keep in mind the game ran perfectly fine with the same settings in Vista and fan running at normal speeds.
So I am assuming this is a Windows 7 problem.
Two other people also had this same problem.
I have an ATI, the other guy has an ATI, and the third guy has a Nvidia graphics card. So its 2 ATI and 1 nvidia.
I had this problem after upgrading. in vista everything was fine but under windows 7 whenever i played games my card would overheat constantly. I ended up having to get a second cooling fan for the card to stop this.
Possibly a DirectX issue ? I'm not sure I'll look into it, for the mean time I think Riva Tuner will work on 7 I would install that and boost your fan.
I'd be more inclined to just use the ATI overdrive in CCC to adjust the fan speeds.
I get the exact same temps in Vista and Seven, so I'd say it's probably the drivers not ramping the fan speed up as the temps increase the same way it happens in Vista.

I use it because my 8600 GTS gets way too hot on auto. Precision is simple. I like that. I just run the fan at 100%. If the card ups and dies, I'll get a better one. It's just an 8600 GTS 256MB 128 bit. Not much of a loss!
I have no problems here. Did you mention you done an upgrade as apposed to a clean install because if you did then maybe that is where your problems lie. Always do a clean install to minimize conflicts.
