Hey everyone.

Every time I boot up my PC, windows will load, but will take forever to load, during which lots of disk thrashing occurs, then gets the BSOD. After the BSOD, the pc will automatically reboot. After it reboots, the BSOD will not show back up, however it still takes about 5 minutes of loading and disk thrashing for the pc to be usable. I'm thinking it may be a RAM issue, but I was wondering could it be something else (before I Have to buy any RAM). I'm also wondering could it be a driver issue or something like that. The problem happened around the time I uninstalled AVG free antivirus, but reinstalling AVG didn't fix it and I'm not 100% sure that's the problem. I'm going to run memtest program sometime soon (I understand it takes a while). I've run system restore, anti-spyware programs, and the repair tool on the windows recovery CD. Anyways, I've attached the SF Diagnostic Tool info to this thread, and attaching my specs I got from Sysspec, but let me know if there is anything else that would be useful in resolving the issue.

Thanks in advance.

System Optimisers
Code:

Please remove the following software:

This software is a known cause of BSOD's. The windows 7 operating system does not require these registry cleaning software. They often tune-down rather than tune-up and can wreck the OS beyond repair. Microsoft have improved Windows 7 significantly and it is much better at organising and optimising itself than its predecessors. Check this, this and this thread for evidence.

If you feel the need to use a registry cleaning or optimisation software, most of us recommend the use of CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download but make sure you back up the registry before making letting ccleaner delete anything.

10 Tips on How to Properly Maintain Your Computer

Daemon Tools/Alcohol %
Code:
[B]Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite	Public:Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite	Public[/B]
Uninstall DAEMON Tools and/or Alcohol % software. It uses a driver called sptd.sys which is known to cause BSODs in Windows 7. Uninstall the software using Add/Remove Programs. Reboot the system. Once the program is uninstalled, run sptd.sys uninstaller to remove the driver from your system.

As an alternative, many people recommend the use of Total Mounter or Magic ISO

Start up

Keep less stuff at the start-up. Only anti-virus, this helps avoid driver conflicts and improves time to log in to windows.

Hey, thanks. I DO recall that I had just recently installed the new version of Daemon Tools, so uninstalling it and restoring a saved registry from Feb 2013 seemed to fix the problem. It's still a bit slow booting up, but it's at least faster than it was before. I'm gonna have to leave it like this for now, as current issues prevent me from doing more to it...

thanks a lot though.
