Windows Defender & Anti Virus ?

Hi,

Regarding Windows Defender:

I thought it was an anti-virus program as well as a spyware program.
But I guess I was wrong re the anti-virus part.

It is Not an anti-virus program. True ?

If so, what free or inexpensive anti-virus program do you folks like ?
Avast Free was recommended in a book I am reading (Windows Tweaks)
Would this be the best, or a good choice ?

I guess I should also ask if there is any potential interference with With Windows Defender in any way ?

Go to microsoft.com Get security essentials, its great, and just for windows.

+1 Also, there are alot of free soultions out their.
Windows 7: Consumer security software providers
A list of great AV's. Some are free, but many provide free services aswell. Go check em out

Best is always a matter of opinion. Why not try the one made specifically for windows. Microsoft Security Essentials. Don't like it just uninstall and try the one of your choice.
