Windows Explorer keeps popping up saying it has stopped running and needs to be restarted. So the only option I have is to restart it. I've seen online about running Command Prompt sfc /scannow. I've done that and I've included a cropped (for size) screenshot of the result. I can still use my laptop, however it that disrupts what I'm doing. It's very frustrating and worrying. It didn't start until recently.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Does that only help if it's doing it on start-up? It starts up fine, then as I'm using it and doing things it does that.

Okay, so I ran Boot Scan. Does that fix the infected/corrupted files or just identify them?

Hi Crash,
Avast shoud have fixed them, if it has any found items will be in its Quarentine folder, you shoud be able to view the log it created, copy and paste it please. DO NOT touch the quarentine folder.

please try sfc /scannow again.

As for system Mechanic it will also have a log of changes its made, copy and post them as well please.

note you turned SM of once but its recreated its start up process, you can see that in the report you posted.

Well, I think the SM start up process is actually iolo Live Boost. Also, with Avast, how do I find the log it created? I tried running sfc /scannow again and Windows Explorer locked up and I hate to do a hard restart.

Hi Crash,
No malware expert myself,
But i dont like the fact that Avast DID NOT clear the Rootkit, even thou marked fix automatically
and the 2 other unknowns.

The standard advice regarding Rootkits is a CLEAN install.
If it was my comp i would, however if you want to persivere i would suggest you shoot over to BleepingComputers -- Am i infected sub forum and follow the directions there.
note they tend to be rather busy, -- but there very good.
