Windows fails to restart itself but manual shut down works fine

So for the past couple of days windows has done this. It happened after re installing my wifi card witch has been giving me problems. After reinstalling it and restarting windows fails to boot. It freezes when it says "starting windows" but when I manually shut the computer down and start it manually, it says: "windows failed to start" when I click start normally, everything works fine. Well except for the weird glitches and slowdowns. This still happens when and after installing windows, and in safe mode. It literally can't restart itself in the middle of the windows install! I can't believe it. Someone help me please!

Windows boots fine manually. It's just when I restart it. So I'm pretty sure fixing MBR won't help. I've reinstalled windows twice already.

Actually; on the contrary; just because you dont think it would fix the issue; it actually still may. I would still try and follow those steps in that link i posted; as it may help. The mbr is the master boot record; so if something is even just slightly corrupt; it can affect the way windows functions as a whole. I would still try those steps in the end if it were me.

Also, do you think this might not be a windows problem? I mean I've reinstalled windows twice now having the same error, you think this might be a data controller problem?

i dont believe its a controller issue; it more or less sounds like something for some reason is at the very least slightly corrupting the mbr which as i mentioned can throw everything out of whack in terms of the way windows functions as a whole.

If it keeps happening after the installation of this driver, then it is the driver causing the issue. See if there is a more up to date version of the driver, if there is not; then download a older version of the driver. Try going to the manufacturer website for the driver.

No, the problem appeared after I installed the driver, I reinstalled windows, no drivers installed at all, and it still does it. Sorry for my horrible ability to explain things! :/

Thanks for the help. Using some of these steps windows is able to boot..... Just really slowly. It hangs in the same spot for a minute or two, then starts up normally. Any ideas?


EDIT: after restarting again this problem seems to be gone all of a sudden! Weird, anyways thank you for your help!
