Windows keeps recreating _ICON files, can I stop it?

Hi all, I have done lots of searches for info and cannot find the answer to this. In one of my picture folders where I do a lot of staging as I work with images, Windows keeps recreating _icon files after I delete them.

Example: I may have a file "picture1.jpg"

The next day, I may notice that Windows has come along and created a "picture1_icon.jpg" file. Except it will do it for every single file in the directory. So I will delete them, and like magic, they'll be back again the next day or so.

I don't see any option to stop it in Folder Options, and while I've done some Google searches I haven't hit on the answer yet. Anybody know off-hand now to stop this obnoxious behavior?

I doubt this creation of _icon files is done by Windows itself. Windows Explorer saves all thumbnails of a specific folder in only one hidden file called "thumbs.db".

So I assume what you're describing is done by a 3rd party application, maybe an image viewer/manager ?

You'll have to find it, and then look for options to stop the icon creation in this application itself.
