Windows Live Movie Maker 14 to be released today

If it has "Live" associated with it, I will never do it.

I ask myself, why do they want everything online, and I don't like the answer!

The only thing "live" about it I suspect is that it has a menu item to upload to your "live" page if you want to (and as stated youtube and other polaces with plugins). Just like Live mail, which can be used purely with pop/SMTP and no "live" connectivity what so ever, i'd assume you can use it entirely "off line".

Without a time-line, this Windows Movie Maker is FAIL.

I have installed the Live Movie Maker and given it a spin. The new StoryBoard isn't as bad as you might expect. It is a essentially a basic timeline with a word-wrapping effect when the storyboard gets to the right side of the screen.

The storyboard has 3 layers - the picture/movie layer - the music layer on top and the text layer on the bottom. Editting was farily easy and quick.

For making quick, basic movies it is hard to beat. For more advanced movies, we will have to wait for move features to be added, or go to some other more costly software (free is good).

So.... for my basic movies, I will use Live Movie Maker.... for my more complicated movies, I will use Studio (if it doesn't crash on me... sigh...).

You might have a point but, to me, the timeline, like it was in Movie Maker 6 (Vista's version), is probably the best way for me what clip is where and what transition is where and its length. Storyboards mix me up. I can't get it right...

yeah, storyboards are far too confusing and inaccurate. I would love it if they just made an optional patch to put a timeline in live movie maker.

Downloaded it,:D tried it,:sarc: hated it.

PS: I actually liked windows vista's movie maker, believe it or not. Why?:p Well because it had a timeline that could be adjusted precisely without it jumping all over the place and nearly freezing my computer! I was hopeful they'd improve on the beta. Oh well, time to go back to my Adobe Premier. (Which BTW the video playback has been broken on for 6 months)

PPS:Also it killed my Fraps 1080p video when submitting it to youtube.

No timeline! lol I actually like it alot i just hate that formats its limited on converting into. The YouTube feature is GREAT and works superb, editing is pretty easy and fun when you get the hang of it, almost no need for timeline.

I am glad you can stand using this new iteration of Windows Live Movie Maker, but for me, I need a timeline. Oh well...
