Windows Media Center networking and streaming

Hi basically ive noticed that if I have a tuner on one of my computers running windows media centre i can connect my xbox to the media centre using media centre extender and i can access the TV tuner. Is this possible to do with another pc.

e.g

If my tuner is plugged into my desktop pc and im downstairs on my laptop and want to connect the tuner.

I'm not sure Win7 WMC can be used as "extender", whereas XBox can. I tried that a couple months ago, wasn't able to. If someone cames up with a solution, then two will be happy
