Hi,

I ran Windows Memory Diagnostics multiple times (1GB Ram = 2X512), sometimes it reposrts errors, and sometimes not!

I'm running two OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 64Bit, where I'm encountering bad performance, and Windows 7 32Bit which runs smoothly.

I'm not sure if it's really a memory damage or something else. I upgraded lately my CPU from Intel Pentium 4 506 to Intel Core 2 Duo 7500 (compatible with my mobo), when the BSOD appeared again and again.

Thanks in advance!

Hello TheHero2012, welcome to SF!

For better mem testing use:
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.
Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Sorry, should have read better. W7 64B will not run on just 1Gb of RAM.
If it runs ok on the 32B then there is prob nothing wrong with the ram itself.

Thanks MvdB for your reply.

But I have tested both Rams independently in each slot, and the WDM reports nothing, I've also tested with memtest with no problems, whereas when I tested both at the same time, the errors appear again!

Could this happen because the difference in frequency (one with 233Mhz and the other with 366Mhz)?

First, you need a lot more ram, one gig just doesn't get the job done. Second, you will never improve your performance with so little ram. With that duel boot I would start with 4 gigs of matched quality ram. The same speed/volts/brand. Window 7 32 bit can see and use 4 gigs of ram and you 64 bit much, much more. IMHO looking at your computer specs; you are asking this computer to do a lot running those two operating systems.

Frequency is not the problem though it is not advisable.

OK, I solved the problem, by adjusting the memory voltage from the BIOS.

MvdB, I'm now running Windows Server R2 64 bit which requires at least 512 MB of RAM, although it's running, it's still slow. The main problem wasn't in the OS itself, but in the memory stick, but now I have solved the problem.

Thanks anyway!
