Windows Memory Diagnostic

I ran a couple of memory diagnostics last night (Memtest86 & Windows), but the Windows test said that it would display the results after logging in...it didn't...at least nowhere that I can find. I assume that it should have created a log file...where would I find it?

Thanks, the diagnostics gave the memory a clean bill of health, but before running the Windows diagnostic, I ran Memtest86, and after noticing that it appeared to be configured to only test a portion of the memory by default, I reconfigured it to test all. The strange thing was that it immediately spit out 10 errors, and it appeared that the test stopped. When I ran it again, also set to test all, it found no errors. This kind of left me hanging, thus the Windows test.

Since the Windows test won't run beyond 2 passes, I'm wondering just how thorough it really is? I know that memory defects sometimes takes many passes to find.

The windows test is MemTest but a different version then 86+.

Are you running MemTest 86+ from a boot CD or USB stick.

I have 16GB of RAM in my system and MemTest86+ run from a boot USB stick test all of it. No reconfiguring needed.

I have Memtest86 burned to a CD. I had never configured it in the past, but when I saw the line that said something like Testing 108k - 3308M 4096, I interpreted that as meaning that not all of the memory was being tested. After reconfiguring, it still showed the previous line, but then alternated with something like 4095 -4995 4096. I probably got some of the numbers wrong, since I'm going from memory, but it is close enough to demonstrate what I mean. What is curious, is that the extra line appears to be testing a region that is outside of the size of the RAM sticks themselves.

Oh and I ran the Windows mem test and it took 2 or 3 reboots before it got displayed.
Seemed very odd to me at the time. It was a day later I think. I started my system and the mem diagnostic results showed up.
