While booting up yesterday and before the logon screen, there appeared something called "Updating Registry Items (or something close to that). This appeared for about 2 minutes during which time items counted sequentially up to about 16,500 or so. Then that finished and went to the normal logon screen.

I am just wonderiong if this normal? What is it doing when this shows up?
I have never seen this message before.
Thanks for any information.

Hi rstew
and welcome to Seven Forums. Yes, that is normal. Looks like you saw the Operating System cleaning up after updates have been installed. Windows was updating the registry. I have seen it on several of my computers if I have shut the PC down after updates have been installed, on the next boot it completes the tasks. Nothing to worry about. Is everything else OK with the PC?
