Windows stealing focus problem

I am having this very annoying problem where focus is being stolen in any application I am running. If it is full screen it will minimize if its a windowed app like firefox it will deselect it self then I have to re-click it. This is driving me nuts when I am trying to play games.

I have done multiple virus scans to no avail. I just installed newest version of windows 7 on my laptop msi gx620. I tried tweakui focus fix it didn't work and I tried registry fix and it didn't work. Plz help.

Thats the thing it isn't going to anything. it simply deselects the window or minimizes it I have tried searching threw processes with no luck.

Did you ever resolve this?

I never had the problem until recently and I have no idea what is causing the focus to be simply... "removed". I don't see any odd programs running and I have killed services and processes down to bare minimum, yet I will be typing, like in this message box right now, and all of a sudden no app has focus.

I had a very similar sounding problem on XP a few years ago. In my case - I had quite a few viruses lurking around. I blasted them with AVG and ad-aware and perhaps a few more (it was a while ago), and the issue seemed to be fixed.
I hope you sort it..

I think you are accidentally activating an Aero function such as Aero Peek, depending on where the mouse cursor lands. Avoid the lower right hand corner of the screen (see the little box?).

I thought something along the same lines and ran MSE on full scan to see if it spotted anything but it did not. Maybe I should try a different virus scanner as well.

re. -1, No, it's not aero peak. It can happen while I am playing games, or typing a message like this. Been using Windows 7 since *ahem* before the beta came out and am pretty familiar with the UI. :) I am guessing CaptCrunch is on to something regarding viruses or malware or adware or something.

hello. i've recently become interested in this topic since my switch to win7.

I'd like to add by offering my observations.

when playing games this occurs most noticeably. im running a multi-monitor rig; which with this issue, makes gaming pretty difficult.

What i have noticed is that the mouse barrier (invisible box around the screen; determined by your resolution) extends to the total width of the virtual desktop; as appose to the single screen. as you are moving the mouse along the x axes (left & right, to direct movement); it will most likely track to the second monitor; at this point you're a click away from focus being taken onto the desktop.

i've also notice that this isn't happening with the older games. in which total des where the mouse barrier is active on a single screen my research has attributed this to DirectX 11; but i believe i am wrong.

crysis 2 it happens, civ 5 it does not.
both native directx 11 games.

Hi,

Want to add my 2 cents to see if it inspires anyone to come up with an answer:

* Before this problem:
** When I have one MS Word document open, and open a second one, the focus remains with the second one.
** When I open Google's Chrome browser, the focus is automatically in the search box.

* Now with this problem:
** When I have one MS Word document open, and open a second one, the focus returns automatically to the first document.
** When I open Google's Chrome browser, the cursor is still blinking in the search box, but the focus is not there. Typing at that point does nothing. I must click the search box (where the ^#$@* cursor already was) to place focus there.

Not sure who said it, but although this is a small thing, it is highly annoying because it affects almost everything, many times a day.

Any suggestions other than a priest and holy water, or something as difficult, would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Cursor losing focus

Has anyone ever come up with a solution for this? It's driving me nuts (short trip). I can put my cursor in a text box - any text box (even this one) and do nothing. Nothing moves - I don't type or even touch the keyboard. The focus will just go away. I tried removing the mouse completely and just using the touch pad. Same thing.
