i have also just set up a old samsung-notebook with Win7-ultimate-x32 and Windows Update doesn´t work.
Please, Please someone can help. I still have tried several things. But nothing stopped svchost allocating whole cpu till stopping wuausrv.
KB971058 doesn´t help

I cannot imagine that there is any reasonable way that it can be expected to work fully with Windows 7 in 2015 - but I could be wrong.
