Windows Updates

It is after 1/15/2020 and I am still getting Windows Updates. I thought that had come to an end or is something going on I don't know about.

Obviously if you do not use your system everyday, then updates will be delayed until the system is "on" and in a suitable state to be updated. There is also a Microsoft distribution system to factor in, not all systems are scheduled to be updated at one time. All updates are "rolled Out", if only to give a chance to see any major issues develop.

The updates of the 15th Jan 2020 are the final set issued to all Windows 7 customers, there are some large businesses that have the option to pay for updates for a further three years. there is a slight chance that general updates may be released to all users if something really serious should occur in that three years ( as was the case with one incident with XP), but nothing is planned at this time

First off I do run this PC everyday and I was surprised this morning when I got the notice the Updates were available, but I told it to install the updates. A few minutes later, it said the updates were installed.


BTW those updates were dated 1/18/2020.

Office and MSE (definitions only) are the two items that are still supported at present that could have generated their own updates, that I am Aware of

MS have said that MSE will continue to receive signature AND engine updates until 2023.

Microsoft will continue to release signature updates (including engine) to service systems currently running Microsoft Security Essentials until 2023.
