Hi everyone. I know this is only for Windows Seven forums, but I'm not going to like go to Windows XP website an make a user name their. Any ways the problem is the disk fragmenter, it does not work at all well we called the techie support for the computer an they said it was do to some soft ware problems. Now with my Windows XP it has big ram space ect, an well I want to sell my Windows XP to a friend after I get Windows Seven an I want to clear that up be for I sell the computer to him. They said it was the soft ware problem, but I think other way, because their is a problem with wind somthing onother error screen, after I restart my computer it has two error screen same name but two differnt prats an it happen around this year, the computer still works an all that.

An here is my question: What do I need to take out an destory in order to sell my computer?

I know it is the thing that stores info like my e-mail stuff web search ect. But I'm for getting the name of it :(.

Did the old system come with reinstall cd's or a restore system cd? if so, that is what I would do. This way all of your stuff is gone from the machine.

To answer the question no. They said it was a new computer an Windows did not gave them the cds, an if I did not get the restore cds can I get a copy form a friend who does compute ring stuff for a living?

An it is not the old system yet, it is still new tho. I still have like a month lasting or ran out of the worrenty on it.

I wouldn't buy a computer that didn't provide the OS cd's or give you the ability to create restore disks....but that is a different matter.

Yes, you can get a copy elsewhere and just use the cdkey that is affixed to the sticker on the macine. Should work just fine.

Companies like Dell, HP, and Sony to I believe, Have what is called a recovery partition instead of the OS CDs this will allow you to restore the c:/ drive back to the way it was when you first pulled it out of the box from the factory. With an HP computer you start it and then during boot up you hit I believe it to be F11 and it will take you to a restore screen then you follow the directions from there. On most computers from big manufacturers it will tell you during boot up what to hit in order to restore it back to factory settings.

Defragmenting will not remove data it simply optimizes it on the disk.
