Solved Windows XP Unmountable_Boot_Volume possible to fix and upgrade?

Thanks! That work! I was able to install Windows XP, but now I'm unable to connect to the internet. I have an Ethernet cable already connected from my router, even tried unplug it and plug it back in. Didn't have any problems w/ W7 recognizing it.

Hi Kesha,

Its great to hear that you were able to install windows. You would need to install all the required drivers for the system. Please let me know the model number so I can find out the drivers for you.

If you have mentioned it in the post earlier then accept my apology in advance for the same. Kindly update your system specs here by following this.

Also, check this video which shows how you can download the drivers for any system from our website:

Updating Dell Drivers

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

Thanks for replying back to me. I didn't realize you replied to this post after I sent you a message. Since I'm unable to get on the internet using the PC w/ Windows XP. I saved the System Info application on an USB from my laptop (that has Windows 7) but the PC that has Windows XP gives me an error message when I try to launch the System Info application "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."

Don't know what else to do.

Thanks again for helping!

Did you miss the post I wrote out last evening for how to get online with XP? You have not replied so I don't know why you're not on the internet with XP yet. We also went through this two weeks ago earlier in this thread when the exact page where you are to get the XP network driver was first linked so you had it all along. Are we learning here or spinning our wheels?

You're not connected to the internet so it's not going to connect to Windows Update to look for a driver.

What's required is to import the driver from the Dell Support Downloads webpage.

Two weeks ago earlier in this thread we went through the most extensive explanation of how to do this as I have ever seen online. Absolutely everything possible to find a driver was given, in order. Did you learn anything?

Going to the Dell Support Downloads webpage for your tag number which we used then, we find the XP driver for your model here to download and install: Intel (R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection, v.8.4.0.0_98754, A01

Once online and connected run all rounds of Important and Optional WIndows Updates until exhausted, with reboots. Then import any drivers still missing in Device Manager from the Dell page here: Drivers & Downloads | Dell US

Yeah I didn't see your post only seen the last one. I was able to update the driver for the modem but not for the Ethernet controller. Searched on Dell website, used PCI database website to find the Ethernet controller and tried to use the link that was for the Vendor 8086 but the page does not exist.

vendor-8086
device-1050

Used the drivers & utilities disk to update the missing drivers but that did not work.. I am learning slowly, but surely..

I saved the file from Dell website on an USB, then ran as file as owner, when the files were successfully unzipped I end up getting an error message at the end about the "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode......." I used other steps when I end up getting this error message!

Rightclick the download first to Extract. After extracting click on Setup .exe file to install.

I was able to finally get online, update the PC & get all the drivers! Thanks again!

Hi Kesha,

Its great to hear that all drivers are installed successfully and system is working fine now. Unfortunately I was not available for few days to reply to your queries.

Please keep a copy of the drivers intact on a different media so it can be used in future if required.

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

Greg: Some awesome suggestion you made on this thread.
